README
The purpose of this document is to provide an easy access to the
definition of Unicode symbols and to the abilities of your
browser to represent them.
All information comes from the following two files
of the Unicode Inc.:
- 'Linebreak.txt'
- 'NamesList.txt'
I have transformed these text files into LaTeX-files and then
into HTML-files using the Hyperlatex tool.
Some of the HTML-files contained in this document
are very long:
- The section 'Names' is 1.5 MB
- '3400:CJK Ideographs-A'
in section 'Symbols' is 1.4MB and section 'Description' is 2.5MB
- '4E00:CJK Ideographs'
in section 'Symbols' is 4.3MB and section 'Description' is 7.9MB
- 'AC00:Hangul Syllables'
in section 'Symbols' is 2.3MB and section 'Description' is 4.1MB
- 'E000:Private Use Area'
in section 'Symbols' is 1.3MB and section 'Description' is 2.3MB
According to your needs
there are several possibilities to obtain information:
- Symbols.
It shows the representation of all symbols
by your browser and is biuld from 'NamesList.txt'.
Find out, for example, whether your browser knows
the Euro sign '€' (Currency Symbol),
the letter 'ε' (Greek),
the symbol '∈' (Mathematical Operator),
or the ideograph '呕' (CJK Ideograph).
- Description.
This is the content of 'NameList.txt'
containing information about the definition of each Unicode symbol.
All symbols are represented by your browser. Moreover, cross references
are implemented.
- Names (ca. 1.5 MB). This is 'Linebreak.txt'
showing the name of all Unicode Symbols.
Find out, for example, which Unicode symbols
are connected to the greek letter 'PSI',
or to the symbol 'BULLET'.
